Google Advanced Search Results-Teacher Handout

Who knew? As a search engine, the google interface is like the tip of the iceberg. We use the search box without having any idea of all the other tools that are available to help us find and/or filter information. For instance, did you know that you can sort search results by:

  • reading level
  • useage rights- especially helpful when looking for images
  • publishing date
  • where the search words show up in the webpage

There are also tools that allow you to:

  • see a chronological timeline on a topic
  • look at images grouped by similarities, such as type of drawing
  • browse public data sets
