Reading Level Tool in Google Docs

Note: Sadly this function has been removed from Google.

Today’s tip comes from Cindy Raymond, a 6th/7th grade teacher who several years ago was worried she might “break her computer” because she wasn’t comfortable with using it. Now she is sending me fabulous tips!

She has discovered how to paste a section of reading material into a Google Docs document and use the Word Count tool to determine theFleish-Kincaid Grade Level.

What’s interesting is that Cindy had to figure out how to get to the old version of Google Docs to be able to access this tool as it isn’t currently in the newer version.  Great catch, Cindy! Her directions are linked here
